XO Boats, the Finland-based adventure boat manufacturer unveiled its aluminum adventure yacht model, the XO EXPLR 44. XO is known for its fast, durable aluminum and seaworthy adventure boats, but the 44 will be its first yacht.
The 44 measures 43 feet, 6 inches overall without engines and has a beam of 12 feet, 1 inch. Aluminum is commonly used in building superyachts and military boats because of its durability, corrosion resistance and flammability resistance.
The 44 can hold 450 gallons of fuel. Range will depend on the power package. The vessel can be equipped with triple 450-horsepower engines or twin 600-horsepower engines, with a top speed of 50-plus knots.
The new model offers a modern interior with Nordic aesthetics. Two equal-sized cabins are below decks. The main cabin offers a double bed, shower compartment and plenty of natural light. The aft cabin can be arranged as an atrium, or another cabin with twin single beds or a double bed with a private head. Another bunk in the pilothouse allows the 44 to accommodate 6 people overnight. Rails on the roof can accommodate racks for bikes and sports gear, as well as solar panels.
“We believe that we have created something unique again by placing the second suite under the aft deck. No other yacht in this class seems to have an innovation like this!” said Jaakko Kantola, the lead designer of XO Boats.
